Revealed: Ducati 1098S Model Shoot!
Posted by macdude on May 24th, 2008 filed in Friends, Personal, Photography, DetailingI know it’s been a bit of a wait with the teaser shot entry about a week ago but it’s sometimes hard to juggle between a hectic detailing schedule and family time. Not that I’m complaining at all! I have a wonderful family and a lovely wife who supports my photography enthusiasm which is usually during after work hours. It’s such a blessing! I managed to squeeze in about 2 hours today to sort out the photos from that night’s collaborative shoot with Kevin Han, who’s a fabulous portrait photographer and it’s finally out. *hehehe*
It was my first time shooting with Kevin and although we constantly had to wrestle as to who got more lights first, *hahahaha* it was really fun! You see Kevin works primarily with people and portraits and me on the other hand, am a petrol-head. If you’d have left it to me, the bike would be my primary subject and the model very much secondary *LOL* But we had a great time exchanging lighting tips and we would always agree to a consensus. Bikes are very difficult to light as they have intricate areas which requires a lot of key lights and side-lighting rather than a flat continuous lights. That way the bike can have a more dramatic appearance. But more on the bike next week as I had another shoot completed with Ted Adnan sans model. That will be coming up soon!
Our featured model was the popular Evon T, who’s very talented and there was extraordinary chemistry working with her. She warmed up pretty quick to the setups and she got into the flow in no time. We shot for about 3 hours and packed up right after. How about I leave out the rest of the story and jump right in to the photos? *hehehe*
Strobist Setup: Seven strobes ranging from 1/4th - 1/8th power triggered via Pocket Wizards and optical slaves. Strobes positioned around the rear of the model and bike to create the key-lights using a combination of bare and snooted lighting. Two 500w powered-strobes on camera left and rear of bike for primary light and ground separation.
Here’s how the lights setup looks…
Hope you had a great time checking out the shoot! Enjoy the weekend…
